Kopp Jumbo

In the past, players have used the term “Banjo Killer” to describe these guitars. It was the original old time band and bluegrass choice for many a picker.

I prefer to think of the Kopp Jumbo as slope shoulder guitar that can “play nice” with other instruments while fitting in and filling out the band, but it can step “up and over” when it needs to”. Tonally, it is a very robust and unique guitar.

It’s voice cuts perfectly in the studio as well and records wonderfully.  It is an absolutely great guitar for tracking. The Kopp Jumbo has a lot of headroom on tap. Its defined high mids, enveloping bottom end and balanced trebles really make this guitar a versatile and unique instrument for any style of music.

It won’t let you down live either. If a bluegrass jam happens to break out, this Kopp Jumbo will stand tall.

16” Wide Slope Shoulder Dreadnought
25.5” Scale Length With Arrow And Diamond Inlay
12 or 14 Fret Neck Joint
Red Spruce Top With Top Burst
Indian Rosewood Back And Sides (Other Species Available)
Inlayed Logo
$7250

Price includes your choice of regular or thermally cured ( Torrified ) top normally included for this model with the exception of Engleman or euro spruce unless those become available in the future.

It also includes your choice of standard gloss finish, or closet relic finish. I’m not into severely road wearing your instrument, I’d prefer to let you do that your self.

However, I do believe that there are a couple of sonic advantages to the closet relic finish. First it allows me to apply 50% less lacquer, resulting in an incredibly thin overall film thickness.

Secondly, I believe that in “Crazing” the finish, it breaks the surface tension of the film, allowing for a more relaxed, easy and open response for all playing styles. Plus all of the cool kids are doing it!
